Survey Finds Strong Majority in Support of Drone Strikes

58 percent of Americans till support drone strikes in Pakistan, Somalia and Yemen and all over the world wherever unmanned drones are targeting militants.

According to a survey by the Pew Research Center, 58{c8e7245b8ab68c565aad156e68e78729a90ed3dd91ad3177b3c5a92377d109db} of American citizens expressed strong support for drone strikes in these countries while 35{c8e7245b8ab68c565aad156e68e78729a90ed3dd91ad3177b3c5a92377d109db} of Americans are concerned about hostage deaths due to these strikes.

AFP news agency quoted the Pew survey that majority of people, who are supporting these attacks belongs to The Republican Party while 52 percent belong to Democrats.

48 percent said they are concerned that such attacks threaten the lives of innocent civilians While 32 percent say they are somewhat concerned about this.

29 percent people said that they have reservations regarding whether these attacks are legal or illegal.

The American hostage Warren and an Italian hostage in Pakistan were killed during the attack on militants. US President Barack Obama apologized on these accidental deaths of US and Italian citizen, he took responsibility for the deaths and ordered a full review.

Human rights groups and some lawmakers also raised many questions that these attacks are legal and ethical or not because many innocent people have lost their lives due to these attacks.

It should be mentioned that Thousands of innocent kids and women have lost their lives in tribal areas of Pakistan including FATA and Waziristan. Many Human rights organizations and NGO’s have protested against these attacks in Pakistan, Afghanistan and all over the world but this survey has proved that majority of American public support these attacks.
