Supermodel Ayyan Ali Allowed Release on bail by the Lahore High Court
The Lahore High Court has accepted Ayyan Ali bail plea and has ordered the release of the Pakistani supermodel on Tuesday.
As per the sources, the two-member bench comprising of Justice Arshad Mahmood Tabassum and Justice Anwarul Haq of the LHC has accepted Ayyan’s plea and she will soon be released from jail.
Earlier on Monday, a division bench of the Lahore High Court had allowed the model to submit more documents on record in her bail application for the money laundering case. They had sought replies from the federal government and the Customs authorities regarding the issue.
In the application, Sardar Latif Khosa, Ayyan’s counsel, had stated that the supermodel had been held captive for four months now. He submitted that under the Customs Act women suspects in money laundering cases could be freed on bail following the completion of investigation.
Furthermore, he added that his client was a woman and the investigation in this case had been done due to which she deserves to be released on bail.
The currency smuggling model will now be celebrating eid at home with her mother until her bail ends on 27th July.
Ayyan was arrested by the Customs officials from Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad, on 14th of March on charges of smuggling US $500,000 out of Pakistan. She had been kept imprisoned in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi, since then.
